The Candle
For you,
I left lit
A candle in my heart.
Wild wind tested and arrested
The flame.
It flexed and flickered.
But burned still.
The candle pooled pitiful
In a puddle of wax
Sad and shivering
To the rhythm of my heart.
But burned still.
Decades cascaded by.
Time proved more temporary
Than my love for you.
That candle.
It burns still.
